Dit is weer tyd vir die jaarlikse groot interskole in Potchefstroom.

Vanjaar sal die hele dorp na Potchefstroom Volkskool opruk vir hul FNB Classic Clashes-kragmeting met Potchefstroom Gimnasium.
Vanjaar vorm die interskole ook deel van die SDC Noordvaal Cup se Bowl-afdeling, nadat Gimmies daarin kon slaag om vanuit Afdeling 2 op te skuif.
Dit is vanjaar die 23ste keer dat die twee buurskole swaarde kruis. Die Gimmies geniet tot dusver die oorhand met 13 seges uit die vorige 22 kragmetings, insluitende die mees onlangse uitslag van 26-13 in hul guns. Volkies het tot dusver agt seges behaal, met een kragmeting wat gelykop geëindig het. Gimmies is boonop nog onoorwonne in vanjaar se reeks.
Die Volkies se middeveld sal op hul hoede moet wees vir die Luiperds se Cravenweek-senter, Jhanco de Beer, en nóg ‘n Cravenweek-verteenwoordiger aan sy buitekant, in David Ndala. Ndala is gekies as buitesenter vir die Luiperds, maar draf Saterdag op linkervleuel uit vir die Gimmies.
Volkies se Luiperds-verteenwoordiger, Christoff Nel, behoort ‘n doring in die Gimmies se vlees te wees by die afbreekpunte. Nel is as oopkantflank vir die provinsie se Akademiespan gekies, maar speel Saterdag haker vir die tuisspan.
Ongeag die feit dat Volkskool geen verdere verteenwoordigers het nie, kan hulle nie afgeskryf word nie. Tuisveldvoordeel speel ‘n groot rol en vernaam in só ‘n groot derbystryd. Die Volkies-skakelpaar bestaande uit Juhan Geldenhuys en Johandre Meyer het ‘n sleutelrol om te vervul indien die tuisspan hoop om die bordjies te verhang.
Bowl-nuwelinge, Hoërskool Wagpos, verwelkom een van vanjaar se gunstelinge, Merensky Landbou Akademie, in Brits. Dit is die tuisspan se grootste toets tot dusver en behoort meer van ‘n opdraande stryd te bied as verlede naweek se naelskraapse nederlaag van 14-15 teen Hoërskool Piet Retief.
Die Plasies het nog slegs een wedstryd onder die belt in vanjaar se kompetisie, maar het vir Hoërskool Alberton gemaklik met 43-17 op die Plaas in Tzaneen verslaan.
Die onoorwonne Hoërskool Piet Retief kom in hul eerste wegwedstryd in vanjaar se reeks teen Hoërskool Randburg te staan. Dit sal interessant wees om te sien hoe die span van Mpumalanga op die pad vaar, na agtereenvolgende een-punt seges op tuisbodem.
